1. Who we are
Hermit Hour is run by its founder ("we", "us"). If a company takes over running Hermit Hour, we'll update these terms and tell you in the app. Contact: support@hermithour.com.
2. Who can use Hermit Hour
You must be at least 18 years old. You must give your real date of birth, which can't be changed after you set it. You can't use Hermit Hour if we have previously banned you, or if using it would break the law where you live.
3. Your account
You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to that email secure. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Keep your details accurate, and use one account only.
4. Community Guidelines
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Content that is hateful, sexual, threatening, harassing, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable, and people who abuse others, are removed, and accounts may be suspended or banned (see section 7). We review every report and act on it.
You agree to follow our Community Guidelines, which are part of these terms. You also agree not to copy or collect data from the app by automated means, not to get around blocks, limits or bans, and not to interfere with how the app or its security works.
5. Your content
You own what you post (Moments, messages, your profile). You give us permission to store it and show it to the people the app shows it to, so that Hermit Hour can work. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from short-lived backups and anything we need to keep for an open report (see our Privacy Policy). You must not post anything you don't have the right to share. Some text may be refused automatically, for example blocked words, links, or phone numbers in places everyone can see.
6. Meeting people
Hermit Hour helps people arrange activities together. We don't organise, supervise, or attend Moments, and we don't run background checks on users. You decide whether to meet someone, and you are responsible for your own safety and conduct. Follow our safety tips in the Community Guidelines.
We can't see what happens at a Moment and can't send help. If you're in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Hermit Hour doesn't handle money. If an activity has a cost (a court, a ticket, a meal), the people taking part settle it between themselves, usually at the venue. We aren't part of that arrangement and take no share of it.
7. Moderation, enforcement and appeals
We review reports and may remove content or Moments, warn, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that break these terms or our guidelines, or put others at risk. In serious cases we may act without warning. If we ban or suspend your account, the ban or suspension also applies to the devices you used with it: a new or other account used on such a device may be suspended automatically while our team reviews it. We may report illegal activity to the authorities.
If you think we got it wrong, for example on a shared device, email appeals@hermithour.com from the address you signed up with. A member of our team, not software, reviews every appeal and tells you the outcome.
8. Other apps and websites
Some things in Hermit Hour open other services: a meeting point opens in your maps app, and an online Moment's join link may open a video, voice or gaming service. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and we aren't responsible for them.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account), or as described on our Delete Account page. What happens to your data is explained in our Privacy Policy. We may close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop running Hermit Hour; where we can, we'll give notice first.
10. The service and price
Hermit Hour is free. If we ever add something paid, we'll show the price clearly and it will be your choice to pay; nothing you already use for free will start costing money without your agreement. We may change, pause, or stop features. We work to keep the app available and working, but we provide it as it is and can't promise it will always be uninterrupted or free of errors.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Hermit Hour isn't responsible for the conduct of other users, on or off the app, or for what happens at a Moment or any arrangement between users. Where the law does make us responsible, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim (currently nothing).
None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit, and none of it removes the rights you have under the consumer protection law of the country you live in.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Hermit Hour after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.
