Hermit Hour helps you find company for something you already want to do. These guidelines keep that safe and welcoming. By using Hermit Hour you agree to follow them.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. Content that breaks these guidelines is removed, and people who post it or treat others abusively are suspended or banned.
Be real
- You must be 18 or older.
- Use your first name or a nickname people know you by, and your real date of birth. Don't pretend to be someone else, a public figure, a brand, or Hermit Hour staff.
- One person, one account. Don't create new accounts to get around a suspension or ban.
Be respectful
- No harassment, bullying, threats, or intimidation, in chat or in person.
- No hate speech or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
- Respect people's boundaries. If someone says no, or stops replying, leave it there.
Keep it about the activity
- Hermit Hour is not a dating or hook-up app. No sexual content, sexual messages, or sexual solicitation.
- No selling, advertising, spam, money requests, investment pitches, or scams.
- Nothing illegal, including drugs, weapons, or anything that puts people at risk.
Show up, or cancel
- If you join a Moment, go, or leave it in good time so others can plan. Members who show up earn a Reliable Member badge; no-shows and last-minute cancellations count against it.
- Hosts: describe your Moment honestly, and update or cancel it if plans change.
Meet safely
- Meet in public places, especially the first time.
- Tell a friend where you're going. Arrange your own transport.
- You can leave a Moment, or the meeting itself, at any time.
- If you are in danger, contact your local emergency services first.
Report and block
You can report a Moment, a chat message, or a person from inside the app, and block anyone from their profile, from a Moment's menu, or from a chat message. Reports are anonymous: the person you report isn't told who reported them. When you block someone, their content disappears for you at once and our moderation team is told.
What happens if guidelines are broken
Depending on what happened, we may warn you, remove content or a Moment, suspend your account, or ban it permanently. Messages with words that break these guidelines may be blocked automatically. A ban or suspension also applies to the devices used with the account (see our Terms). If you think we made a mistake, contact us at appeals@hermithour.com from the email address you signed up with.
